Phil has been with Proficient Computing Solutions since 1976, when
the companys name was Management Computer Services and he was
a student at Upper Arlington High School. Initially he worked as a programmer
on the MCS general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and
job-cost accounting applications.
He graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University
in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Elected a member
of Phi Beta Kappa while at OSU, Phil continued to work as a programmer.
In 1980, he was promoted to system analyst and accepted responsibility
for distribution management systems, including inventory control and
order entry.
Phil continued his education at The Wharton School, where he earned
an MBA with distinction in 1985. His studies concentrated on
strategic management and Phil continued his system analyst duties while
in school.
Two years after returning to work full-time, Phil was promoted to vice
president of operations. He took an active part in developing an international
parts locating service for General Motors dealerships. He has also been
a driving force in the shift from mainframe-type computing to desktop
systems.
Phil was named president in 1994 when The Reynolds and Reynolds Company
of Dayton acquired the One Touch Locator parts locating service.
At the same time, Management Computer Services became Proficient Computing
Solutions.
Concentrating on the issues of connectivity, open systems, and scaleable
computing, Phil strives to make the power of the computer accessible
and useful.
In his personal life, Phil has been a member of the Columbus Rotary
Club since 1983 and is an advisor to the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Additionally, he holds a private pilots license with instrument
rating and enjoys both tennis and alpine skiing. He is a member of the
board of Junior Achievement of Central Ohio and was named Volunteer
of the Year in 1996.
