General LedgerThe PCS General Ledger does things no paper-based accounting system could ever do, and it goes far beyond the capabilities of PC-based accounting systems. Because the PCS system was developed initially for use on a mini-computer in a multi-user environment, it was designed for maximum safety and flexibility. That same philosophy has been carried through into our Unix and Windows NT accounting systems. PCS permits multiple currencies, multiple companies, and multiple departments to insure that you don't outgrow your accounting system. User-defined accounting periods mean you won't be forced to change your methods to fit our software. There's no need to change your report format, either. PCS allows you to set up any number of financial statement formats. And you can choose from multiple reporting options when you download financial data to a personal computer. If you've ever had to reverse or repeat a complex entry, you'll immediately understand the importance of our exlusive "undo or repeat" function. PCS has eliminated cumbersome end-of-period and end-of-year procedures, and our software even allows you to have multiple budget years open concurrenty. The uncommon flexibility makes access control critical and PCS software delivers by giving you the ability to restrict access to programs, to functions, and to entry dates. For example -- the CFO could make entries with any date, while accounting clerks would be limited to making entries dated no more than 10 days before or after the calendar date. Sales representatives may be given access to inventory information, but would not be permitted to change it. It's your company -- you set the rules. On-line documentation makes it easy to confirm an action without having to find a manual. Because historical information about your company's performance is often key to setting goals, there is no built-in limitation on how much historical data you can store. The only limitation is disk space. |
