Excellence in information management

PCS Background

Business management since 1964

When Don Turner founded the company in 1964, it was known as Management Information Services. Later, we became Management Computer Services, and then One Touch. In the mid-1990s, Phil Turner took over management from his father and we changed the name of the company to reflect who we are, what we do, and how we do it: Proficient Computing Solutions.

In 1964, one of the company's goals was to make computing services affordable. Hardware was incredibly expensive in those days and we met our goal by renting time on our computers to companies that needed data management, but couldn't afford their own systems or the people needed to operate them.

Hardware became more reasonably priced in the 1980s and we began installing mini-computers at our clients' locations. By customizing our programs for each client and providing a package that included hardware, software, and support, we gave our clients the ability to leverage their information management dollars.

The 1990s have brought scalable computing, open systems, and shared resources. Both Unix and Windows NT make it possible for even small businesses to afford powerful computing systems. PCS continues to lead the way with innovative software that exactly fits the needs of our clients.

When you're looking for a business management system that has a future, please consider our past.
